Detail:
The 3rd annual Patriot Gala will take place on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Quail Hollow Country Club. Guests will enjoy a five-star meal, be moved by our honored military speakers, and have the opportunity to speak with current and past members of our armed services.
The Gala is the premier black-tie event to benefit wounded warriors, along with their families, returning from duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. This is a worthy and timely cause as more and more of our young men and women are returning from military action with catastrophic injuries that will affect the rest of their lives. Conservative estimates are that there will be over 355,000 men and women with some disabling injury from action entering an already over-burdened military healthcare system.
The Patriot Gala provides an opportunity for Charlotte to support a local grassroots non-profit. The evening includes the finest in wine and food, a 21-gun salute, a special tribute to our fallen warriors from North and South Carolina who have died in the line of duty, champagne toasts, one-of-a-kind live and silent auctions, and dancing.
Geoffrey Johnson, whose name and reputation are recognized from coast to coast will donate a painting from his “Frontline” series that will be featured in the live auction. Johnson’s works are highly sought after and are in numerous prominent private and corporate collections including Turner Broadcasting, Bell South, Wachovia Bank and the Bernau University Museum. He is represented locally by Shain Gallery.
Corporate support has included Piedmont Natural Gas, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Harris Land Company, Wachovia, Bank of America, Lincoln Harris, First Colony, REMAX Executive Realty, Curtiss Wright, Davis Capital Group, Emerson Joseph, Dillard’s SouthPark and Watson Insurance.
